An illegal car meet in Melbourne’s inner-south has ended in chaos overnight, with police forced to use capsicum spray after violence erupted near the St Kilda marina. Hundreds of people gathered at the suburban car meet at about 10.50pm last night on Marine Parade, with hoons skidding on the road and drivers performing burnouts. The rowdy gathering quickly turned violent, with a person throwing a bottle at a police car as officers swooped in break up the group. The crowd retaliated after officers deployed capsicum spray, damaging and kicking a police car and throwing rocks at members. The violent actions were slammed by most people in attendance.
