Adelaide’s Fringe Festival is going ahead again this year, but as with all things in the past 12 months, it’s going to be changed by COVID-19. Artists and organisers are working to try to create a pandemic-proof program, while police will be out in force to make sure the crowds and the operators are following COVID-19 rules.
“There are a lot of people that will come to Fringe that haven’t been to venues before and they will need educating,” Superintendent Matt Nairn said.
He said police presence was not about handing out fines, but the ultimate consequence for those who do not follow the rules.
The public will have to check in with the QR code reader repeatedly, including at venues within venues.
Nonetheless, nearly 400 sites will be set up and allowed to fill out at half capacity
